You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Between the lying, complete lack of communication, the back and forth, and the blatant disregard for my families wishes I am sorry that my family and I chose this funeral home. To the director cullen you looked me and my family in the eyes and promised to look after us throughout this process and you failed miserably. You made it a point to not return phone calls as promised and made sure to avoid us in person not even checking on us the day we came to view our relatives body. Surely because you knew you were wrong for all of your behavior. In my honest opinion I believe that yall treated us how yall felt about us. Our relative didnt have a policy and we had to raise money and because of that we were treated poorly and not as a priority. In the directors own words I didn't think yall would have everything so soon. Hmm that told me everything I needed to know which was I wasn't in my head because of grief but because from the 2nd day yall started showing your true colors. We called multiple times for different reasons and had to wait 24 hours or longer or no response at all for a response from anyone each time and given the run around, I sent in a mock obituary and it came back to me with different spelling for the names I sent in and words were missing or out of place, I verified the day of the funeral the order of the musical selection WITH THE ORGANIST and yall deliberately did the musical selections out of order which flabbergasted us. I couldn't leave that funeral home fast enough after the service. My relative passed 3 weeks ago and because of all the mishaps with Chatman-Harris I haven't had the time to grieve and have any peace. I was hesitant to work with jasmine because of some reviews but she turned out to be nice from my personal experience. Ill never forget the first day me and my family meant cullen and us walking to our cars saying how nice and genuine we all thought he was, so to see that opinion from all of us change because of his treatment of us has been crazy to witness. When you dont know people personally their word is all you have to hold on too and from day 2 yall disregarded that. Will never recommend them to anyone”

“Worse funeral home EVER!!! Jazmin is unprofessional and has no sense of empathy. I just left from the Reisterstown Rd location, Jazmin was in her suv outside of the building. She watched me ring the bell (I didn’t know it was her at the time) as I’m sitting in my car, she drives past me and goes there the fenced off part of the parking lot. I left a message for her to call me on Wednesday. I was I formed she was ooo on Thursday when I called back and it’s Friday, still no return call. There was an issue with the insurance, no one called me, I had to call and follow up to get an update. All I need to do is make a payment,,,UNACCEPTABLE!!! I would not send any of my loved ones here. It’s really sad that this is the treatment you receive at such a vulnerable time for families.”
