“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Dalton Funeral Home was truly exceptional during our grieving process. I don’t know that I could have made it through without the emotional support of Stephanie. She answered my calls, returned messages even after hours, and offered me a shoulder to cry on when I needed it most. Thank you, Stephanie, and everyone at Dalton Funeral Home, for helping me and my family during such a vulnerable time in our lives. We pray for the very best for you and your families.”

“Our experience at Dalton Funeral Home was a rollercoaster of emotions. Unfortunately, it started off on a very sour note with Stephanie, who assisted our family. She was shockingly rude and unprofessional, even going so far as to threaten to "track us down to get her money" if we had trouble making payments. Her demeanor was cold, detached, and completely lacking the compassion you'd expect in this line of work. She remained in her office throughout the service and only emerged at the end to offer an awkward hug, which felt insincere given her earlier behavior. Thankfully, Chaz and Eli stepped in and truly turned things around. They were warm, empathetic, and made our aunt’s funeral feel like a celebration of her life. Their kindness and professionalism were the only reasons we felt comforted and cared for during such a difficult time. Stephanie may not be suited for this profession, but Chaz, Eli and the rest of the staff are the heart of Dalton Funeral Home. They deserve all the praise.”

“Tim has always been like family. He has buried at least 25 of my close friends and family. Him and his staff are always very compassionate, considerate, professional and respectful. Most friendly and kindest in the business.”
