You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Honestly, if I could give 0 stars, I would. This funeral home does not deserve even 1. If you are looking for peace, compassion, empathy, and respect for your loved one during an incredibly difficult transition, do not choose this funeral home. Not only was the whole service itself RUSHED, the individuals responsible were just rude and showed a clear lack of professionalism, accountability, and basic human decency. Most distressing of all, when I visited my loved one’s burial site 15 days after the burial, there was STILL no marker in place. When the family brought this to their attention, they were told they “didn’t know what happened” and that they had “ordered a new one.” This is absolutely unacceptable. It is now almost 30 days with no marker. This level of negligence is both deeply unprofessional and profoundly disrespectful. No one should ever have to visit their loved one’s grave and find it unmarked!! Families entrust funeral homes with care, dignity, and respect — this place failed in all three. Do not be fooled by their sharing of personal stories — they will pretend to care and relate just to get your business. These people only care about the money going into their pockets.”

“I used their services for my grandmothers burial in 2019, they were great then. However, I’ve called over five times over the past couple of months to get her plot number as my parents want to get a bigger headstone and they’ve yet to reach back out. It’s a constant cycle of leaving messages and never once have I heard anything back. I understand businesses may be busy but I shouldn’t have to call so many times for something so simple. I do not recommend this place. I regret doing business with them.”

“I wish there is 0 star for this place Russell & Pica we asked for the wake 7:30 am to 9am waiting for police to arrived. I had devastating experience with Russell &Pica during my mother funeral. Very awkward from beginning of the process, end up I have to called several places for documents and papers work. It took 3 weeks to process everythings. Everything was scheduled for a traditional khmer Buddhist cremation and family members including monks who had traveled from across the sea for the ceremony. First thing I went in to inspected my mom dress up I didn't like the scarf they wrapped around her neck , it did not came out like I told the staff how to put it on for her, and also her bracelet was missing that was supposed to match with her necklace. I asked the staff that I dealt with the same exact situation she said not found it. Afterward we started to do Buddhist monk pray 🙏 and bless accordingly as our cultural ritual spirit. Just a moment before we leave from funeral home they confirmed no police, than I said what ? I asked the owner first thing and also asked his staff for a police also. I'm looking for the staff that I dealt with she took off not in the office. She was set up live stream on YouTube, my families said can not see . The ceremony was done a little bit before 9am, and look like they were short of staff only one coach that was there, no one else that we can asked for things. Coach told us to hold on like half hour before we head to crematory. On the way we stopped every stopped light which I never have experienced before, line has been cut off. But just a moments before the cremation was to begin, a crematory staff member told us it couldn't proceed , because the funeral home failed to complete the required paperwork. No one had informed us of any missing documentation before this moment. We were left standing at the crematory in shocked, grieving, confused and completely blindsided . This was more than a paperwork issue. It was a heartbreaking disruption of a sacred tradition. The funeral home showed a complete lack of communication responsibility, and cultural awareness. My mother body remained in storage, and we were forced to delay the rites essential in our khmer culture. This was happened on July 16,2025 The owner and the staff did not apologize for what the service they provided was terrible. My mom body remains at crematory until 7/25/ 2025 and processed to cremated. Very horrible experience tremendous emotions distress. 😢”
