You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Murray-Paradee Funeral Home is the best funeral home in the Cherry Hill, NJ region. They are family owned and operated by top experts in the funeral industry. Murray-Paradee Funeral Home was started in 1902 and is one of the oldest funeral homes in South Jersey. The next generation now passionately continues their family funeral home business. They have served our family for well over 20 years, and we consider them to be the best funeral home in the Hammonton, New Jersey region which is why we went with them after so many of our friends recommended this wonderful family. You can trust them with your loved ones and they are very fair and honest.”

“Rocco, Joe, Rocco and team did an exceptional job memorializing my Dad. They walked my Mom and me through the entire process with appropriate compassion. Murray - Paradee added a couple touches that the Filipino Americans in South Jersey would appreciate - half of the prayer cards had the Lord's Prayer in Tagalog and the setting of the funeral home for my Dad's casket featured both American and Philippine flags. We didn't request these -- Murray - Paradee proactively added them. My Dad's viewing was scheduled to be Monday, 1/26, the day after the snow storm. Rocco called me Saturday to discuss canceling the viewing. We agreed with Rocco that canceling the funeral home viewing was the safest choice, but, again, I appreciate Rocco reaching out to me first instead of us wondering (or my reaching out to Murray - Paradee). Murray - Paradee made a painful process as smooth as can be expected.”

“Rocco and the team at Murray-Paradee have been beyond professional, kind, and helpful through the process of locating and reissuing some long-lost family records. They were able to locate the documents I needed quickly, and worked with the state to issue updated paperwork for my deceased relative far quicker than I anticipated. I highly recommend their services. Thank you for all the help!”
