You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The staff there is amazing. So helpful and so knowledgeable, So efficient. that it made Us feel at ease while navigating through such a hard time in life. It was a clean and peaceful place very economically priced as well. Thank you to all of them. God bless”

“Took my mom here to pick up her husband's ashes & I am just baffled by the lack of compassion and unprofessionalism Tiffany had. We got there she was running around like a headless chicken. She then sits in the office and yells for her to come sign for release. They hadn't called to say his ashes were ready, ma had to call & ask about him. We anticipated big emotions about picking him up and all we could feel was worry because they're handling her services once its time as well. When that time comes, if we get this same service, someone is getting an earful. It's a funeral home, not a tanning salon, get some empathy.”

“Insensitive, unresponsive, and completely unprofessional. After my mother passed, I trusted this funeral home with her cremation. That was a mistake. For 10 days, I received no update—no returned phone calls, no communication. When I finally did hear from them, I was told, "Don't worry, your mother is in a cooler." That’s not compassion. That’s callous. Losing a loved one is hard enough. Being treated like an inconvenience during your grief is inexcusable. I cannot recommend this funeral home to anyone who wants to be treated with dignity, empathy, or basic respect.”
