You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“My family used their services for my grandmother's funeral. It was beautiful. The font desk were polite and nice. The restrooms were very clean. The Cafe room was clean as well.”

“Julian cruz provided us my dad's funeral information showing 9am chapel opening with the memorial service at 11am. My dad's urn did not arrive until about 1015am and the $300 plus flowers did not get there till almost 1045am. He had no remorse about the lateness or the bad experience we had on our dad's funeral services. I left emails for the manager Mr Hoffman and emailed another worker and I never recieved a response. I would not recommend this location. They might tell you they care about their clients but they do not.”

“We chose this mortuary because Melody answered the phone cheerfully and gave us sensible prices, plus it was the closest to our mom's preplanned lot at San Fernando. We didn't like having to make an appt but could imagine the turmoil sometimes if they didn't have that system. Julian Castro is phenomenal. He guaranteed me that everything would be exactly perfect and he made everything exactly perfect. My mom truly did look rested and asleep and just as she looked in life. I couldn't believe it. I've never seen such a good job. The staff are all kind but not sniveling and professional but not distant, and the prices are the lowest of 6 that I called. You can't go wrong here. We are going to set up our own creations next week.”
