You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“This was the worst place I have ever been to a funeral! I watch this man be so rude to a disabled person who just lost the only family he has which was his mom!!! He said I’m not trying to rush but let’s round em up and get out of here then at the cemetery some of us was late bc of flooding and he was being rude telling people we need to hurry up ! He told her son who was seeing people at the cemetery he wasn’t trying to rush him but he either had to leave or he will give him a shovel to help burry her !!!😡I’ve been to way too many funerals but never have I seen someone treat people the way this man did ! It’s so shameful!!!!! He was paid well over $11000 and gave them one hour at the funeral home just for the closest family members and less than an hour for every one else at the cemetery!!!! I hope people reads this and changes there mind about going here bc when you lay your loved ones to rest it should be better people there treating you right !! No one should ever feel this way leaving a funeral home people are there to say there last goodbyes but instead was treated like trash that meant nothing !!!”

“Lamb Funeral was God send to our family. They were kind and compassionate in handling all of our mother's needs from long-distance transport, to every detail of her funeral and burial. Zack, kept intouch and kept us informed of every moment. They are such gentle spirits and we were so glad we chose them to handle every detail.”

“I cannot thank the Lambs enough for helping us navigate the passing of our son. They were extremely understanding and accommodating in a very unique situation. They handled everything with kindness and thoughtfulness. Ms Kim was very easy to speak to and so helpful and encouraging. Navigating a cremation from an entirely different state sounds like a it should be a hassle but Lamb Funeral Home made it as easy as possible. Thank you from our family to yours.”
