You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I have found such solace here. What a wonderful group of loving and supportive people! I feel so blessed to have found them. They worked closely with me to create a Memorial for my husband that he would be happy with. We played his music and lots of photos! friends had a chance to talk and share, and reminisce. I absolutely cannot recommend this wonderful family business enough.Everyone commented on how wonderful it all was. God bless them each and everyone.”

“I’m in another state than my parents and my Father past away. My Mother has been suffering from depression since and I found out she didn’t pick up my dad. I called and was told it would be another $150 to ship. She said it was too late to ship Monday but she would ship him the next day. Over a week goes by and I was completely ghosted. Well, Dad arrived today in a cheap plastic box NOT the beautiful blue box my family paid for! SHAME on you. The bag with his remains(?) is closed with a twist tie. I have never seen remains contained like this… I’m disgusted! Are these even my dad?”

“Five-Star Review for Santa Fe Funerals and Cremations I cannot express enough gratitude to Santa Fe Funerals and Cremations for the compassionate and professional care they provided during one of the most difficult times for our family. From the very first call, we felt supported and reassured. Funeral Director Ginene Trujillo was an incredible guide throughout the entire process. Her warmth, empathy, and attention to detail made all the difference in honoring my grandmother’s life exactly the way she deserved. Ginene made sure we never felt rushed or overwhelmed, and she treated us with such kindness and respect. The staff—Haily, Silvana, Dave, and Aaron—were equally exceptional. Each of them went above and beyond to ensure that everything ran smoothly and that every detail was taken care of with dignity and grace. Their genuine compassion and professionalism were deeply comforting. Losing a loved one is never easy, but thanks to this amazing team, we were able to celebrate my grandmother’s life with peace and beauty. I highly recommend Santa Fe Funerals and Cremations to any family looking for caring, respectful, and thorough service during such a sensitive time.”
