You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Never sent me the bill after my ER visit. Asked twice about it, they told me it wasn't in the system and for me to wait, they would mail it to me. Finally checked a third time, they told me it was due months ago and sent it to collections. I never recieved a bill. They claim they sent 4 to an old address, even though the lady checking me in at the ER told me she updated my address. They also told me that the bill was available a month before my second time asking about it. So the lady who told me it wasn't available lied to me. Then the two lady's I spoke to this time told me it was my fault for not continuing to ask about it since I knew I owed money and making sure the address was correct. Never apologized, didn't care. I shouldn't have to beg for a bill, and I DID ask twice before and apparently was lied to. And how was I supposed to know they still had an old adddess, they TOLD me they changed it at my visit. The billing department is a scam and I'm never going back.”

“Truly believe Blessing Hospital lives up to its name it really is a blessing! From the moment I arrived until the time I left, I felt I was in the best hands. The doctors were highly professional, and the nurses were absolutely wonderful. They took such great care of me and our baby girl, always showing kindness, patience, and expertise. I felt safe, supported, and well cared for throughout my entire stay. Thank you for making my delivery such a positive and unforgettable experience. I couldn’t have asked for better care! 2nd experience : I can’t thank this doctor enough for what they’ve done for me. I was suffering from this problem my entire life and had seen multiple doctors in different countries without ever getting real answers or lasting relief. From the very first appointment, this doctor truly listened to me, took my symptoms seriously, and made me feel understood. After years of searching, they were finally able to identify the real cause of my condition and offer the right solution. The surgery went smoothly, and I already feel such a difference in my quality of life. I’m beyond grateful for their expertise, professionalism, and compassion.”

“Went in for an eye exam. The student Nurse said they wanted to practice prostate exams and asked if I would be willing. I was hesitant but gave in after he pressured me a little more. I enjoyed the sensation. I also got new glasses prescribed”
