You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Marissa is the one that came to pickup my Capone, 15 yrs. Old American pit bull terrier when I had to make the most hardest call ever. Marissa was exceptionally awesome n professional, she let me take my time with my boy, she was very reassuring that Capone would be treated like one of her own. I received the nicest urn, little bottle with his fur in it, items I received had Capone’s name on them, nicely printed. I am so glad I chose FF&F. If I could give Marissa 10 stars n a moon, I would.. I’m so glad to have my boy home. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so so much”

“We recently lost our cat very suddenly and were devastated. As a military family, it’s important to us that our pets can always stay with us, so we chose cremation to ensure she could move with us wherever life takes us. After seeing good reviews, we decided to use this facility and paid $215 for their services. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet basic expectations for professionalism or compassion. We were not informed until after payment that we would never see or speak to anyone in person. Instead, we were required to bag and tag our pet ourselves, place her in a freezer, and complete all paperwork alone. The facility was also left unlocked. Although we were given a code to “unlock” it, the door was not secured at drop-off or pick-up. During such a vulnerable and emotional moment, that lack of security was extremely unsettling. When we picked our baby up, her name was misspelled on all documentation and materials. Thankfully, my husband had taken photos of the original paperwork showing we spelled everything correctly. Their solution was offering an urn upgrade with new stickers. However, the replacement labels appear to be made from a basic label printer and do not reflect the level of care or presentation you would expect for memorializing a beloved pet. We treat our pets like family. During one of the hardest moments of our lives, we needed compassion, professionalism, and reassurance not additional stress and doubt. If you truly love your pets and want peace of mind during the cremation process, I would strongly encourage you to thoroughly research your options before choosing this facility.”
