You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Hello, I've lived in the neighborhood for 40 years, I'm 62 years old and I loved walking my Chihuahua around the cemetery for many many years, it was soothing, quiet and beautiful and safe and I wasn't hurting anybody, but as of recently, they have put signs up " no dogs allowed" except service dogs, now I'm sad and depressed that other dog walkers have ruined it for me by not cleaning up after their dogs waste, I clean up after mine, yet I'm being punished for others irresponsibility's, I even had a worker stop in his vehicle and tell me I can't walk my dog here anymore. There is a War going on in Iran and in Minneapolis, but you guys and the City of Crystal are worried about dogs at your cemetery, I have friends buried there and I can't even visit and pay my respects with my dog anymore, how sad this world has become. The geese poop all over those grounds, what about that? are you going to ban geese and ducks too? Haha , good luck! I was going to consider being buried here, but now I'm not and have lost respect for the place, a cemetery? I'm walking my dog and at 62 years old being told by a dude half my age that I can't anymore ? I've lost all respect for humanity and I'm not crazy or kidding, stop the petty nonsense and put things back the way they were, take down the signs and allow people to use the property as a quiet place to retreat as they wish. If and when you see someone not cleaning up after their pets, then approach and let them know, there are enough workers around to be able to do that. It's just ridiculous , yes there are other parks and places to walk but I'm an older lady and I don't feel safe at some of the parks around the city, walking along, yet you are going to ban people because of poop, sad sad sad , with all do respect, please reconsider this debacle 😥😡”

“Yesterday was the one-month anniversary of my husband's sudden and completely unexpected death, and the first thing I thought of doing today was offering a recommendation for Washburn-McReavy just as it was recommended to us by a caring friend who knew this fine funeral home from experience. My daughter and I were devastated by the killer heart attack that no one--including his doctors--saw coming. Yes, we know "we're all going to die" but do we really? It's different every time we lose someone we love. It's deeply personal. And we were unprepared. We arrived at Glen Haven Funeral Chapel in shock, but the staff took us under their wing as though they were part of the Eagle family. They helped us honor Clyde's wishes exactly the way he would have wanted--no fuss, no muss, no pressure--taking each step on our heartbreaking journey with love. Before the cremation we had private time in a quiet room with Clyde's body. My daughter chose to be present for the actual cremation-- promise made, promise kept. We both felt free to express our wishes because from the outset the funeral directors had guided us through the steps we chose to take. They made the process of selecting our desired details, scheduling a gathering for local friends, neighbors and co-workers in the chapel, where they helped us display picture boards loaded with memories and special personal items--hat and boots, books, star quilt, achievements--symbols of a life well lived. People felt comfortable coming to the fore to share memories in the presence of our beloved Clyde's ashes. No rush, no interruptions, just helpful staff members on the sidelines, ready with helping hands. Within days we were able to take my husband's remains to Standing Rock Sioux Reservation in South Dakota, where traditional ceremony and celebration, love and memories were shared with more family and friends. We will always be grateful to the staff at Washburn-McReavy's Glen Haven Funeral Home for their professionalism and for the kindness we were shown every step of the way.”

“I was attending a funeral on Saturday and the receptionist helped a woman stating she left her coat there a week ago and took mine smh do better or get cameras!! The receptionist never even asked her what it looked like or anything. It was an expensive coat which my husband gave me, word of advice keep your coats with you!!! Sadly the staff didn’t even apologize or offer to look into it”
