You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The lady at the front desk was pleasant as well as the gentleman, and Mr. Simmons himself assisted when my family needed him the most. However, the payment was paid in full and after that it was such a headache. I needed assistance with getting a full invoice to close my dad’s bank account and I waited an hour for something I didn’t need. This is my first time putting a parent to rest, but this funeral home has been in business long enough to know what a person needs to accomplish certain task when it comes to putting a family member to rest and though it is not their job to direct the client in how to close accounts or estates they should know people will come in needing documents. I waited a total of two hours to get a full invoice so I can turn it in to the probate court. I waited an hour in the funeral home and I had nag them by calling to send over a fax. I was told my fathers remains would be mailed with the death certificate, the coroners office in this county is the worse!! I would have been waiting six months. I had to go pick up the remains which was inconvenient having a newborn and driving seven hours. This experience was honestly the worst! I would not recommend this funeral home. I understand things get hectic I am understanding however I was not able to complete the task of closing my fathers account and the bank he was banking with is not in the state I am in, not to mention I had an appointment that was scheduled at 4pm and I couldn’t make that appointment which I had been waiting for, for two months. If there was a sense of urgency I would have been able to accomplish this task but I’ll be taking another seven hour drive to close his account”

“I cannot recommend this funeral service highly enough. From start to finish, the experience was marked by unmatched professionalism, compassion, and excellence. Every detail was handled with precision and care, ensuring that our loved one was honored with dignity and grace. A special thank you and recognition goes to Tiffany Simmons, whose leadership, presence, and personal touch made all the difference. Her ability to balance professionalism with deep compassion was truly remarkable. Tiffany guided us through each step with clarity and kindness, making what could have been an overwhelming process feel manageable and even healing. What truly set this service apart was its commitment to Black excellence—a standard of service that embraced culture, respect, and pride in every aspect. Under Tiffany’s care, the team exemplified high performance, delivering seamless coordination, clear communication, and exceptional attention to detail throughout the process. One of the most memorable and moving parts of the service was the touching memorial video, which captured the essence of our loved one with sensitivity and beauty. It brought the family to tears and reminded us all of the life we were there to celebrate. Additionally, the way this team honored our loved one’s military service was nothing short of extraordinary. The respect, precision, and sense of duty displayed in the veteran-themed ceremony was deeply appreciated and gave our family a sense of pride and peace. The facility was immaculately clean, serene, and comforting—creating an environment that was both respectful and healing. The staff, led by Tiffany, were not only professional but also genuinely caring, treating our family with warmth and empathy during an incredibly difficult time. Having attended services across many states, I can confidently say this was the best funeral service experience I’ve ever had. The consistency in quality and the evident pride they take in their work makes this establishment truly stand out. This is more than a service—it’s a ministry of excellence.”
