You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I am so thankfully for the kindness, compassion, and help that Kristian who was like an earth angel in such a difficult time provided in the painful loss of my Lexie. Thank you Kristian for your services cremating Lexie and doing her paw imprint on clay. I would suggest to anyone that may have a dog that is passing, to take them to Family Pet Memorial & Cremation and ask for Kristian.”

“We recently received Kloe’s ashes back, and while this was one of the hardest moments for our family, the team here made the entire experience as gentle, respectful, and compassionate as possible. From start to finish, they treated Kloe with dignity and treated us with genuine kindness and care. During such an emotional time, it meant more than we can express to feel supported and never rushed. Everything was handled smoothly, thoughtfully, and with deep respect. We are incredibly grateful for the compassion shown to our family and for taking such wonderful care of our girl.”

“When I tell you how amazing this place is I am not even joking. Anytime you call Christian is who will answer the phone, you only speak to and deal with one person throughout the entire process. He personally takes care of each pet that comes into his care. Since the incident was so sudden I had no idea what memorial pieces I wanted or where to even begin. He helped explain all of the urns and went through every detail. Later that night I realized I wanted a couple tubes of ashes for the kids to be able to sprinkle for memorial and I also needed a tube filled a small amount because I decided to have a piece of jewelry made. Before we took her there I clipped some hair off her chest area but remembered how fluffy her tail was and I absolutely needed to get some hair from her tail as well. I called Christian about the ashes for the kids and he was soo understanding I completely forgot to ask about the hair from her tail. I immediately called again, back to back at like 7pm lol, and he did not care one bit and told me to call again the moment I thought of anything else I needed/wanted. When we got to pick her up he forgot the ashes for the kids but he took her bag of ashes/urn and went to his office and came back with the tubes. So I asked him how he did it like if they held onto some ashes at the end in the event something like this happens or how he got the ashes into the tubes he said he opened her baggie and poured the ashes into the tubes and then sealed it back up. He said if someone wants ashes back they get everything there is. If someone doesn't want the ashes back he personally gives them a proper burial area that he sprinkles the ashes in. He made this whole process SOO much easier. I was absolutely ecstatic that I didn't have to call and talk to multiple people about different things I wanted/needed. As well as comforted knowing Bella wasn't being passed around between different people and worried about how they were treating her. I truly feel like he cared for her like he would his own pets. If anyone local loses their pet and is needing a cremation I will 110% recommend they call Christian. He even offers to come pick the pet up (extra fee)!!”
