“This review is for the Fall Grief Recovery Class: Doug did a wonderful job helping us navigate through grief 😔! We received many handouts that gave us good information of what we are facing! I started to cry when the words from a slide show said, KEEP BUSY! I have kept myself so busy, I haven’t allowed myself to cry it out! This class forced me to take time out of my crazy busy schedule to go through the grief and grieve out the loss of mom! I learned some good things: Grief is not depression, it’s a time period where we are sad because we are emotional beings, we are not ourselves! Sterbs - short term relieving behavior - 🍦 🍭 even hobbies that are helping us coup with loss. Have heart with “ears” to listen to those around you without interrupting or trying to add a comment to someone’s grief sharing! Common miscommunication to those in grieving: I know how you feel, be strong, replace the loss… A letter will be written to the lost love one but not to be given them or read to them: includes: apologies, forgiveness, acknowledgment, significant emotional statements. There is a Loss Graph and Relationship Graph - really eye opening to losses! The book: The Grief Recovery Handbook and the class took me through the process, which was not easy as I broke out in hives, but that is just me! I had to face some of the non-communicated issues I had with my relationship with my mom! My group facilitator Jan also was a huge support and blessing to my life! Encouraging us do our homework weekly! I wanted to do it really well and was unable to complete my letter! I finished the letter over the weekend and she was willing to hear it via FaceTime to share it with her! Thank you Jan! Whether dealing over a loss of death of person or pet, job loss, divorce, loss of an ideal, etc., this class is a winner in helping us understand grief and how to navigate through it with the right tools ⚒️!
