You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“My sweet calico kitty, Riin, of almost 18 years passed on December 17th and I just got her ashes and paw prints back today. I had never gone through this process before but am so beyond pleased with how beautifully done everything was! I feel my sweet baby was honored well. After Riin was dropped off at my vet to later be picked up by Agape, I had called and spoke to Kendall about the process, if it was possible to get an extra ink print, changing the spelling of her name, AND if they could save a tiny purple ribbon that was on her at drop off. I was so worried it was too late to do these things, but Kendall was so so kind and compassionate, answering all of my questions and working all these things out! Seeing the tiny purple ribbon come back to me today in the bag was such a healing joy to my heart. Thank you all so much for honoring my baby well in this hard time with such kindness & compassion.”

“On October 10th, our dog passed. This was my first time doing this. Our vet uses Agape’s services for cremation. I phoned them and spoke with Kendal… Absolute angel on earth. She answered every question I had, coordinated a special pickup of our dog from the vet. In addition, she even called me on her off time to assure me that they had our special guy. Her driver went out of his way to pick him up on a Friday afternoon when he did not have to. It was our choice to go to their office and pick up or dog’s ashes as soon as possible. The supervisor and his staff made sure that everything was completed as requested and offered additional help if needed. Their customer service and kindness was so above what is considered as great. So thankful that we used them at this sad and difficult time.”

“I recently lost my 4-legged son “Blu”. He meant so much to me and my family. Kendal (I’m sorry if I am spelling your name wrong) She was “TRULY AMAZING”🫶🏽❤️ It was a very traumatic experience to have to go through, but she went out of her way to call and update me on the procedures. I can’t Thank you enough, for your empathy, patience, consideration, professionalism. I feel so much better having him home with me and my family.💙🥺🐶”
