You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Words cannot begin to express how much Riemann Funeral Home has done for my family over the last month since my mother has passed away. From the quickly scheduled initial appointment a few days after her passing, all the way through to the end, even a month after she was gone, each team member of Riemann has given myself and my family 150% of themselves. On the initial appointment, Mrs. Melissa took her time and really explained things in a way that I could understand despite the horrible grief that I was experiencing. It was a lot to process at first and I know she had to explain things a few times, but she was very kind and patient. This was all a new process to me and she treated me as if I was family. She took my family under her wing and made sure we were informed of every step of the process. She gave us time to be with my mother before she was cremated and, while it was hard, she provided the comfort and support that we needed. The obituary that she wrote, for my mother was so beautifully worded and encapsulated all of the important things about her. She kept in close contact, even if it was to just check in, and always kept a positive and professional attitude. Even after a few weeks had passed, the chaplain, Sean Murphy, reached out to just check on myself and my family to see how we were doing and to make sure that we are getting the grief support that we need. He stayed on the phone with me and provided encouragement and support, and let me talk about my grief. I didn’t realize I hadn’t talked about it much since she passed away. This phone call alone, including all of my previous interactions, confirmed my opinion on Riemann Funeral Home: that they truly do care about people and their families and want to provide the most support possible during this difficult time. When I went to go pick up my mother‘s ashes, I was greeted with professionalism and given time to process the final step of this grief journey. There was a kind man that helped me carry the urn to my car. He treated my mother with the utmost respect and care, placing it gently and securely in my car. That small act alone meant a lot to me. Now today, over a month after my mother’s passing, Mrs. Melissa had Mrs. Donna Faye reach out to me just to make sure that myself and my family are doing alright and getting the help that we needed. The fact that they still reached out even after over a month really means a great deal to me and shows me that this is a business that doesn’t just say they care, they actually do and show it in their actions and follow up. My whole experience during this difficult time has been made a good bit easier because of the caring, knowledgeable, and dedicated staff of Riemann Funeral Home. You truly do feel like family when you walk in their doors. If you were wondering who to make your final wishes with or whom your family should choose on the coast for your grief needs, I would highly, HIGHLY recommend Riemann Funeral Home. Thank you all again so much ❤️ SL - daughter of Helena Nichols”

“February 14 Riemann’s, Three Rivers Road, hosted the Celebration of Life for my husband, Dennis Oliver. They were very helpful and patient with all our requests. The displays were well placed. The service was a celebration, casual snd fun. The reception was friendly and the food was delicious. The burial service was respectful. Thank all of you for helping make this time just as we wanted.”

“Although my mother did not have a formal service or funeral and only a private family viewing, our experience was very comforting. Tom was incredibly kind and allowed us more time than we were scheduled for, which meant so much to our family. He was warm, friendly, and even shared a few laughs with us. It was actually his birthday that day, which made his kindness even more special. The staff was compassionate, professional, and very informative. We truly appreciated the care shown during such a difficult time. Thank you”
