You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“They aren’t keeping up the cemetery at all anymore! We hadn’t been out there for a while but my husband and I had to weed eat and clean up his grandparents graves ourselves. They were so overgrown. This place used to be beautiful but it’s really gone downhill! First picture was taken in September when I discovered what bad shape they were in and then today after cleaning them up properly.”

“My mom passed away 12/15 /24 and I've been trying to get them to put her death date plate on her tombstone. I've made numerous phone calls and the lady Denise promised me in October she would have it on there in a week. Well 5 weeks later and it's still NOT down. Called to speak to a manager and when that didn't happen I ask to get a return call from the manager and that hasn't happened either. After they get your money they don't care if their job is completed! I will be calling the new station for help and to do a story on this place very soon. 30 days is more than enough time for this and even if yall are short staffed one of the ladies answering the phone could take the time to do this ...All it is ,is a tin plate with 2 screws. Less than 5 minutes work. This is a sorry place and sorry excuse for a business!!!”

“They do not keep the graveyard up. Went today. Aints all over my parents grave. They finally fixed the vase. One other time I was there. The told me my brother was buried there. One is but they couldn't find him but told me the one that is alive was buried. Well he took his phone with him. So back next week I have to come from Greenville everytime. Dean Davis kept that place up and with respect.”
