You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“During All Souls week in November, I paid a visit to the cemetery with the intention of obtaining a plenary indulgence for the souls in purgatory, particularly for my dear mother. To my surprise, I discovered that cemeteries are abundant in the areas I frequently traverse. As I strolled among the graves, I came across the resting places of young souls, some as young as two years old, adorned with photographs, toys, and even their beloved possessions. To gain the proper and official indulgence recognized by the Catholic Church, I also participated in the sacrament of confession, attended Mass, offered prayers for the intentions of the Pope, and received the Holy Communion. This act wasn't just a blessing for the souls in Purgatory, but also a spiritually enriching experience for myself. I've resolved to visit more frequently from now on. May God bless and have mercy on the souls buried in this cemetery.”

“I normally don’t write reviews, but I feel other families deserve to know about my experience. Back in April, I went to the office to redesign my mom’s marker. On April 29, I received a call to approve the new design, and I texted Irene and Mark that same day confirming my approval. Weeks later, I got another call from Mark asking when I was going to drop off the deposit check — even though he never mentioned the deposit during our earlier call about the design. I told him I’d bring it in as soon as I could. On May 21, I personally went to the office and handed the deposit check to Ann and Mark. Then, on June 19, I got a call from Irene asking when I was going to drop off the deposit check. She had no idea that I had already approved the design and paid the deposit a month earlier. This back-and-forth and lack of communication has been exhausting. From the start, Mark has been difficult to deal with, and the poor communication between staff has made this already emotional process even harder. Now it’s almost October, and my mom’s marker still hasn’t been installed. I was told it has arrived but that there isn’t enough staff to install it. That is not an acceptable excuse after paying so much money and waiting this long. This whole experience has been deeply disappointing during such a painful time for my family. I truly regret choosing this cemetery for my mom’s final resting place. Families deserve compassion, communication, and timely service not months of delays and confusion.”

“I am very happy that we chose this final resting place for mom. It is very beautiful and my mom loved flowers. All you see is a sea of flowers very beautiful. Her interment was very well organized and Mark was very helpful and professional. Claire Ajufo Mother- Bridget Nwabuzor”
