“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I attended a recent celebration of life service on 12/18 and was deeply disturbed by the behavior of one of the employees present. Throughout the service, this gentleman sat in the back row belching loudly and making disruptive noises, which appeared to be related to illness or lack of care. His conduct was distracting and disrespectful during what should have been a solemn and comforting occasion. The situation escalated when he aggressively announced that it was time to close the casket. This action was shocking, insensitive, and completely inappropriate in the context of a funeral service. Families and friends in mourning deserve compassion, dignity, and respect, none of which were demonstrated in this instance. Such behavior reflects a lack of professionalism and care for grieving families. A celebration of life is meant to honor and remember the deceased and this experience was marred by unacceptable conduct. I sincerely hope that steps are taken to ensure that future services are handled with the respect and empathy that mourners deserve.”

“Losing our father was one of the hardest times in our lives, but the team at Missions made everything so much easier for our family. Diana and Gilbert went above and beyond to ensure every detail was handled with care and compassion. They truly took the weight off our shoulders—we didn’t have to stress about anything. Their professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail were deeply appreciated. From start to finish, they took care of everything, allowing us to focus on grieving and being with our loved ones. Thank you, Diana and Gilbert, for your incredible support. You made a difficult time a little more bearable, and we are forever grateful. – Jessica & Family Perea”

“I am saddened and taken aback with the treatment we received this morning. Michelle was rude, disrespectful and insensitive. First, There was no offering of condolences nor sorry for our loss. Further, I asked a question regarding transportation and Michelle was annoyed. (She wanted to know why I was requesting transportation and who provided the info.) I don’t know what the problem is with Michelle, but if she doesn’t like her job to provide (customer professional and courteous service) then Michelle needs to go! My parent’s treatment is especially important to me at ALL stages of life. I am very disappointed and I CANCELED my request to have my mother sent to Mission -South 1st. Funeral Home. If I could have selected “zero” star I would have.”
