“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“During one of the most painful moments of our lives, when we lost our premature child, this funeral home treated our family with extraordinary compassion. From the very first conversation with Tatiana, we felt genuinely supported. Every detail was handled with care, sensitivity, and professionalism. Her kindness, empathy, and calm support made an incredibly difficult time a little easier for our family. Thanks to her and the team, we were able to say goodbye in a peaceful and meaningful way. We will forever be grateful for their support during this incredibly difficult time. I wholeheartedly recommend this funeral home to anyone who is looking for trustworthy and professional care when it matters most.”

“It is not often that the person utilizing a funeral homes services gets to review the funeral home herself! I approached this home under a peculiar circumstance. I had to have a surgery which required one of my organs to be removed, and for religious purposes I would still need my organ buried with me when die. For the hospital to release the organ, I was told I would need to find a funeral home that was willing to accept the organ, and then I would need to go through them to retrieve it. I asked around a few places and once I explained the situation to Samantha at Duksa Family Funeral Home, she so selflessly jumped in to help me! She was beyond accommodating to what I recognize must have been an unusual request. Within the same day of reaching out, she contacted the hospital representative, told me the status of my organ, how it had been treated/preserved while at pathology, and if there were any special treatments or preparations that would need to take place to properly respect and prepare my organ for joining me on my long life journey, and eventual burial with me when my time comes. She met me at the hospital, and it was one simple form to sign to be reunited with the little piece of myself I had been missing! She offered some amazing insight into potential long term methods of preserving and memorializing my organ, while it waits with me on my life journey. She also offered in the far future her funeral homes services, which would happily arrange and follow through on any special preparations needed to prepare me and my organ for burial when that time comes. Samantha and her whole team have certainly earned my trust and respect, and I cannot imagine having another place care for me as selflessly and respectfully as them when my time comes! I cannot say enough how eternally grateful I am for their kindness, and encourage anyone who may have need of their services to reach out! You will not be disappointed! Also, for a time reference, It took less than a week from when I initially reached out (and less than 24hrs from the time I got my pathology report!) to Samantha swooping in to saving my organ and reuniting us. Talk about timely! All the best to Samantha and her team!”

“Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else with your money. I was emailing back and forth with one of the owners apparently and it was like pulling teeth communicating with him and now we have zero communication back at this point. These people are no aware of time sensitive situations.”
