You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I recently attended a funeral here for a close family friend and was very disappointed by the lack of professionalism displayed by the staff. During such a sensitive and emotional time, compassion and attentiveness are essential, yet the staff did NOT seem particularly warm or welcoming. Having both attended and helped plan several funerals in the past, I have generally found funeral home staff to be understanding, patient, and supportive. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. The staff appeared disengaged, and not once did they offer a comforting presence or even a reassuring smile. During the ceremony at the temple, a male employee made a loud announcement urging attendees to hurry up with all the proceedings while the monks were still preparing and chanting, which came across as highly disrespectful. Additionally, at the funeral home, a female employee made announcements without using a microphone, making it difficult for many guests to hear. Overall, the service felt disorganized and inadequately staffed, which added unnecessary stress during an already difficult time. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works to improve coordination, communication, and overall sensitivity when serving grieving families. The only good employee here was the hearse driver. He was very sweet and helpful. A true gem, the rest of the employees should learn from him.”

Every single detail was handled beautifully. They took the stress off my shoulders and made sure everything was done with dignity and respect. “I would like to express my most heartfelt appreciation for the funeral service Wing Fook has provided during this difficult time of my father's passing. I contacted Wing Fook a day after my father passed away. They were able to see us on the same day. We met with Seng Lam to go over the funeral service details. We didn't know anything about Chinese funeral customs but Mr. Lam was very kind, professional, and knowledgeable. He explained everything to us in detail. Tiffany reached out to me about my father's death certificate information. She's very friendly, patient, helpful, and professional. I emailed her multiple times with questions and she was very quick to respond to each of my emails. Both Seng and Tiffany were very respectful of our wishes, made us feel comfortable, and helped us every step of the way! I couldn't have asked for better service and professionalism. Thank you for making this a peaceful experience. I highly recommend your service.”
