You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“If you have money they will help you with a happy smile if you don't then you might as well go down the road into Shelbyville TN , when I handed Keith my uncle's socks for his funeral he threw them over to the side as if they where trash. We also had a casket donated to us. His attitude with us after that changed. He was rude and very arrogant the office ladies seen us walk by and slammed the door as if we had COVID. When my aunt was crying he looked at her and asked if she was finished. ? This funeral home is simply oit for your money. And the funny thing is ? When we had the casket donated the price never changed ? We where going to make sure that the bill was paid for but after the way they treated us. I just assume let them wait on his wife to pay it which will be never. So if you have insurance sure use them. They will take every penny and then some. If you don't have insurance or no money and want a payment plan. DO NOT USE !!!!! This God forsaken building that they call a funeral home. Or you will be left with more of a broken heart. We are not the only ones done like this. I can give you contact to MANY !!!!!! families including families who buried there children that where done just the way we was because of no insurance. We had a Student in our school he passed at 18 and the family couldn't have the service for nearly 2 weeks became of Keith and This funeral homes mess. This business. Will pay for what they have done to families. I pray it's closed down and it never flourishes. My suggestion is this. Go too either Woodbury and Shelbyville. They have a couple of funeral homes who will help you and work with you. If I could give no stars I would but stars wouldn't even make up for the pain they truly caused us. I'm surprised they aren't digging people up. But that's working so I know they ain't going to do that. If it means they have to get out from behind there desk. 🤣. Seriously this place is a joke. And the people are worse.”

“We recently had a service here. The service itself was nice and warm. The eulogist was kind and thoughtful. However, as often is the case, after the service, there was some confusion as to who was leaving with whom and who is taking what food and flowers .etc. The staff had packed up our food and beverages in bags and boxes and just shoved it all together. They were VERY passively aggressively rushing us. They hounded me, following me around and continually bombarding me with questions on how quickly we will be removing the bereaved from the facility, all the while under the guise of being helpful. Standing over me while I tried to comfort folks and load cars. So very rude with a smile. No one wants to be drilled with questions and rushed when dealing with the loss of someone. They treated us as if they were doing us a favor by taking our money. I've never felt so degraded by such an air of arrogance. It was just awful. We were not dragging our feet by any means. We just needed a moment to figure things out as most of the attendees had come far from out-of-state. I would suggest finding someone else.”

“The staff is compassionate and knowledgeable and so helpful during the worst times in life. I appreciate the kindness they showed my mother and me as we made arrangements and dealt with the death of my beloved father. I highly recommend their services to anyone. Thank you for all you do for grieving families and our beloved deceased family members. You treat them with the dignity and respect they deserve while keeping the costs very reasonable.”
