You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Davis funeral Chapel is VERY VERY nice. My Grandmother passed a few weeks ago and our family decided to lay her to rest with Davis. Mary Smith was our director. She didnt miss a beat.. she had the up most respect for us in our time of need. She helped us through our struggle every way possible whether it was mentally, emotionally or financially. Davis provided us with a BEAUTIFUL service. At the end of the day I left my grandmother's service feeling that I had the best closure possible given the circumstances. Davis you guys are wonderful. I could never Express how thankful we are for Mrs. Smith. Thank you so much.”

“HORRIBLE !!!! When my grandfather passed away , Davis funeral chapel came and picked up his body and took it to the morgue. My grandfather was in hospice care at the time and they had cut the back of his white undershirt to make him more comfortable. They also had to take out his catheter. They had placed a towel over the area when they did that. So when Davis funeral chapel picked up his body , it went as is. My grandfather was an amazing person and I couldn't have picked a better man. He did not want a funeral service and he did not want to be embalmed. So, the family meet Davis funeral chapel at the burial site. Now, I had the honor to pick out the suit that my grandfather was going to be buried in. I spent a few hours going through his closet picking out just the right one that I thought he would have loved. It felt good to know that I was apart of this process. When he arrived at the cemetery , they brought him to his plot and sat the casket down. I asked if we could see him one last time. Davis said that we could not because the casket was locked. I personally didn't see any locks on the casket. Now to make matters worse I asked if my grandmother's ashes were in the casket with my grandfather. Davis said yes they were. For some reason Davis walked back to his vehicle and I asked my Uncle if he saw any locks on the casket. He did not. My uncle took the lid of the casket and opened it up. Tears filled my eyes when I saw my grandfather laying there halfway on his side in a clear body bag with his white torn undershirt and the towel around his private area !! And my grandmother's ashes NOT in sight. Davis then proceeded to blame the morgue for losing the ashes and not putting his suit on him. I personally do not know of a morgue that does that! That is solely the job of the funeral home. I hope that this review helps you when you decide to choose the right funeral home for your loved one. There are so many other little details that he lied to us about but I wanted to share my family's experiences with you. I DO NOT have any respect for this establishment or for Davis himself. And I pray that when it is Davis' turn, that he and his family receives way better than he gave.”
