“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“My grandmother died on 1/8/23. Her funeral service was 1/14/23. In October 2023, I spoke to Holly at Hill Funeral Home, informing her that the headstone for my grandmother had not been updated to include the date of her death. After two weeks of back and forth with no movement, Hill Funeral Home claimed it was their contractor, RAR Monuments, that was responsible for engraving the headstone, and they were not responding. In the week that followed, I was told multiple times by Holly that owner, Frank Hill, had personally called and/or texted his contact at RAR, and still no response had been received. On November 7th, after another week with no update from Hill, I had a brief conversation with Holly, in which she informed me that RAR finally responded, and that the headstone would be engraved with her death date by the end of November 2023. She said my call caught her by surprise as she believed I was already informed of this update from Frank Hill. I was not. As of the date of this review, 12/5/23, a total of 325 days after her funeral service, her headstone has still not been updated with her death date. Edit: This review was updated from 2 stars to 5 stars without my action or consent.”

“We are very glad we chose Hill Funeral Home for our recent funeral arrangements. Frank and Carol and their son John were extremely professional and compassionate in caring for our loved one, and for our family's needs. We had a wonderful celebration/time of remembrance in their cozy space, and Carol did a great job arranging for details of the event. Frank and John accompanied us all the way to Arlington National Cemetery for burial, and did an excellent job of tending to the details and precision required by the military. They are easy going, welcoming, and helpful. Fun fact- they have a new "therapy puppy", Rosie, who is a sweet addition to their place. Thank you, Frank & Carol & team.”
