Questions to Ask When You Call
You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

What Families Say
“From the moment that I walked in to Maurina-Schilling even with the lose of my wife, I felt very welcome. Not just another number. They were caring. Not coming out hitting you from every direction with funeral plans. They gave me time to thing after I was asked a question. Explained Each option, and again gave me time. We gave them very short notice for the funeral. Only four days. The things that they did in that time were amazing. I could not have asked for better. They helped me through a bad time, and I can never thank them enough.”
— Steven Winscher
“I would like to give a big thank you to the funeral director Kevin Hanson and the funeral home team for helping our family during one of the most difficult times in our lives. There is not words that can be enough to express how grateful we are to find them in the time where we were more in need of help. And like I told Kevin he is a real angel. God bless everyone.”
— Sayda Mendoza
“Kevin and his team are awesome to work with. They were kind, caring, compassionate, and used great communication from start to finish with my mom's arrangements! We highly recommend 👌”
