Questions to Ask When You Call
You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
Ask whether assignment is available for your policy and location, what fees apply, and what you must pay upfront. MedaSynq does not arrange assignments.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
Under the FTC Funeral Rule, funeral homes must give price information by telephone and a written General Price List when you visit in person. Federal law does not require them to send the list by mail or email. You can select individual goods and services and use a casket purchased elsewhere.

What Families Say
“I cannot say enough good things about Byron Funeral Home. After the recent passing of my grandmother, my family and I have been so grateful to have the pleasure of working with Mary. She has shown my family nothing but help and support, kindness, encouragement, compassion, guidance and understanding. I anticipated having a very difficult time coordinating the cremation of my grandmother, but Mary couldn’t have been better and put my family at such ease, knowing that she was receiving the best possible care. The facility is gorgeous, very clean and well maintained. You can really tell that Mary truly cares about your family during such a difficult time, and will stop at nothing to make sure you feel that everything is taken care of. My sister and my grandfather also have commented on how wonderful Mary has been throughout this process, and how she treated us all like family. If you’re questioning which funeral home to use, I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed with Byron Funeral Home. In the unfortunate event of losing another family member, I will only be working with them.”

“I can't express enough the positive experience we had with working with Jay Czeczok and the Byron Funeral Home. From the moment of my mother's passing everyone was put at ease with the process of making arrangements through the Byron Funeral Home. Jay was accessible at all times and made my dad feel empowered and comfortable through this difficult time. We had absolutely no pressure from Jay in our decision making process, he simply laid out our options and let us make the best choices for our families needs. My father is a quite man who was so please in the approach of the Byron Funeral Home. Jay handled everything from start to finish like a professional and never hesitated to answer difficult questions. My mother was cremated and my dad changed his wishes of burial after seeing how seamless and professional Byron Funeral Home handled the process of cremation. Don't hesitate to contact them for your funeral needs and check out their state of the art facilities for yourself and know that you and your family will be cared for!”
