You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I cannot begin to express how grateful we are for Rachel and the entire team at Arnold Funeral Home for the care they provided in planning my grandfather’s services and burial. From the very first phone call, Rachel reassured my grandmother that they would gently bring my grandfather into their care. She quickly arranged a meeting time that worked for our entire family and guided us through each step with remarkable grace and compassion. Every detail was handled thoughtfully and professionally. The entire process was smooth, organized, and carefully executed. Most importantly, the needs of my grandfather’s closest family and friends were always at the forefront. Rachel, along with John Arnold, both father and son, were supportive, patient, and attentive to every question and request. They led an organized and timely service while also ensuring that each person had the space and time needed to properly honor my grandfather and say their goodbyes. Their pricing was clear and transparent from the very beginning. Decisions were driven entirely by what our family wanted, with no pressure and no upselling. That level of integrity meant so much during such a vulnerable time. In a season that is immensely emotional and difficult, the entire Arnold team went above and beyond for our family. We are deeply grateful for their kindness, professionalism, and care.”

“This was simply the best experience you could have when you are devastated. My father's death was very sudden and we were all unprepared. Every part of this experience was loving. We were a mess and it happened over a holiday. They took their time and put our family first, even on a holiday! They were clear with all of their communication and total upfront pricing. Not pushing any sales or agendas. We were a mess and they took the time to explain or just take care of everything especially to the grieving widow. From the people who came to collect the body the the follow up calls and holiday support every person in this company was amazing. My dad had a rescue dog who was having a hard time. The people who came to take him lowered the gurney and gave the dog time to say goodbye. My dad didn't want a regular funeral for his friends and family. He was a football coach, so they let us have it on Friday. We did football decorations instead of flowers. We all wore jerseys instead of formal wear. They encouraged us every step of they way to honor him the way we felt best, not some strict outline. They answered all of our emotional questions without judgement or time restrictions. Even the ones that felt crazy. I honestly wouldn't go anywhere else.”

“My aunt had chosen Arnold's Funeral Home before her passing. I received a call from John the morning of her passing to make arrangements. John was very compassionate and very helpful in making all the decisions that needed to be made. He went above and beyond to meet me to pick up pictures for the slide show and made a beautiful tribute to my aunt and again meet me several days later to drop off papers at my house as I was babysitting grandkids. He communicated throughout the entire process and I never felt like I had to wonder if things were taken care of. I would highly recommend the services of Arnold Funeral Home to anyone.”
