“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”

“I unexpectedly lost my boy Dougie on Dec 22. I live out of state and had just arrived for the holidays a few hours before. When I woke up in the middle of the night and found him gone I immediately Googled pet cremation services because I couldn’t bring myself to put him in cold storage. Serenity popped up. Being after hours I was connected to a call service initially but I received a call from Laurie (I apologize if it’s not spelled right) within minutes. She met me at the funeral home. Because it was so sudden and I was so upset I don’t remember parts of meeting her well but I do remember her asking if I needed a hug while I cried hugging him. I didn’t accept and drove the hour back to where I was staying in silence. A few days later when I picked him up she asked if I needed that hug. I did.
