You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“All of the staff we encountered here were very compassionate and professional. Joy was an absolute God send through this process. She was so compassionate, understanding, and very accommodating. In a time where forming a thought and making decisions seemed impossible, she made the process so simple and straightforward. Joy treated us as if we were her own family and like we had known her for years. No amount of words can form just how truly thankful I am for her, especially, and the rest of the staff during this devastating time. I will forever be grateful, and I will definitely be recommending their services to others.”

“Our family had for the most part a positive experience with Moments Funeral home. They were caring and professional throughout the entire process from picking up our loved ones to the services. We unfortunately had to have 2 services less than 30 days apart. We buried my mom and my dad (they were divorced) within 30 days of each other. The service for my mom was held at their facility. They were very accommodating for a very special unusual request that I had and I thank them for that. The second service was for my dad and it was held at his church and again they were very accommodating. The only thing that I felt could have been done differently was Moments letting us know that if we wanted to play my dads DVD at the church that we would need to bring the setup to do so. I am sure as most would be like us and not thinking of these things. So that is something I feel they should consider for future services.”

“I really appreciate what Joy and her husband Jeff has done for our family. The service, planning, execution, and professionalism were above and beyond expectations. The funeral home itself was very clean and the chapel had a very homey atmosphere that smelled of fresh pine. I would recommend anyone in Lucedale and surrounding areas to use this facility.”
