You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“We lost my younger sister unexpectedly, and amidst the shock of it all August worked with us with such compassion, professionalism, and truly caring about our family, in the worst time of our lives. She was very flexible, showed us multiple plots with detailed information, very communicative and prompt with planning/emails/documents. She even took time to support us at her burial, and provided a smooth experience at this beautiful resting ground. This is the only cemetery that my family felt "at peace" with the decision to have my sweet sister here. Many families often visit, the decorative items and flowers make the place very colorful, and the grounds are beautiful. We are very happy with our choice for this deeply tragic time, and again- August was so gracious through everything. We thank you immensely.”

“I just want to share my perspective as someone who has many family members buried at this cemetery. People need to understand that the cemetery is not the one destroying decorations—it's the snow, the wind, and the winter weather. If someone doesn’t want their items to get damaged, the best thing to do is remove them before the winter season. Nature is unpredictable, and no cemetery can control that. This cemetery is extremely well kept compared to many others in Colorado and even other states. I’m genuinely grateful that my loved ones are here. I don’t pay attention to negative posts from people who don’t understand that winter weather can ruin decorations. If people were thinking ahead, they wouldn’t leave items out knowing snow and storms are coming. There have even been times when my decorations went missing, and the cemetery had them safely stored. Every time I visit, I see staff out there doing their best, even in tough conditions. So when people act like their situation is the only one that matters, I hope they realize they’re misunderstanding the reality of snow and nature. Nothing is being done intentionally, and realistically, no one can shovel or clear off every single grave after a snowfall. This cemetery is a 10/10, and I appreciate everything the staff does.”

“Their lawn maintenance co. Is horrible. The maintenance of this property has gone down over the last two years. It must be a miracle today. They have the second gate opened which is never ever opened and you have to drive through the whole cemetery. If you're looking for an amazing site to Bury your loved ones.I would consider somewhere else.”
