You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I am absolutely appalled by Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. Just two days before Christmas, I arrived at my daughter Madelyn’s grave to find her Christmas tree completely removed—without notice, warning, or any communication. This is a tradition my family has honored for nine years, often with trees at or above the 24-inch policy. When we selected this section, we were explicitly told that the infant section would be treated with additional grace, especially around the holidays. Clearly, that promise is meaningless. There were also many other trees still up in the area that were quite a bit taller than hers. When I went to the office in tears, I was told the tree had been removed because it “exceeded the height limit,” and I might find it in the basement. Only after searching was it located. The complete lack of communication and disregard for a grieving family is unacceptable. This is not just about a decoration—it is about honoring a child who will never come home. The entire cemetery is in shambles. The baby section—and much of the grounds—is in a state of disrepair: sunken graves, uneven terrain, overgrown patches, and dead or patchy grass. Headstones are sinking, and it is obvious that routine maintenance is neglected. Families trust this cemetery to care for their loved ones’ final resting places. Queen of Heaven has failed in that trust, repeatedly. Even after assurances from management that dignity, consistency, and compassion would be restored, their words mean nothing in practice. Policies are enforced with rigid strictness while the grounds remain neglected, creating a heartbreaking imbalance for grieving families. If you are considering this cemetery, be aware: the grounds are neglected, communication is nonexistent, and your family’s grief will not be respected. My experience here has been devastating, and I cannot recommend this cemetery to anyone.”

“Disappointed and Heartbroken by the Lack of Care This cemetery has been a huge disappointment. The upkeep is extremely poor. Decorations placed with love and meaning on our loved ones’ plots are removed without notice, yet no effort is made to maintain the grounds. The only area that seems to receive regular care is the Virgin Mary statue at the entrance—meanwhile, the rest of the cemetery is neglected. Even the main sign is water-damaged and faded, giving an unwelcoming first impression. The visiting hours are also incredibly frustrating. Closing at 6 p.m., with security starting to push people out by 5:30 p.m., makes it nearly impossible for anyone with a regular 8–5 job to visit and properly mourn. It feels rushed, cold, and inconsiderate. They discourage us from adding personal touches to the graves, yet don’t put in the work to make the cemetery a place of dignity and peace. The plots are so tightly packed, it’s hard to have a quiet moment of reflection without feeling like you’re intruding on another family’s space. For the amount of money we pay, there should be a sense of pride and care. Instead, we—grieving family members—are the ones having to water the grass and maintain the area ourselves. It’s disheartening and unacceptable. If this cemetery doesn’t want families to personalize their loved ones' resting places, then they need to take responsibility for creating and maintaining a serene, respectful environment.”

“My father passed away, and it was our family's first time ever dealing with such a devastating loss. Queen of Heaven made everything so incredibly easy for our family and every single part of their team made things so flawless for us. Communication was incredibly clear, our needs were met, the staff was incredibly kind, patient, and friendly. They were even able to offer us several alternatives to make burial options as cost effective as possible. They showed the utmost professionalism and empathy until the last moment. Not one thing could have been better after it was all said and done. The Chapel itself is BEAUTIFUL and incredibly well kept. The Cemetery grounds are gigantic, and maintained consistently by groundskeepers to the best of their ability. It is very clear that they care greatly about presentation, and they do everything they can to make the grounds look as presentable as possible. You will see tons of families in the cemetery spending time with their deceased loved ones. The spiritual energy of the entire place is so strong and light. THE FUNERAL HOME IS VERY CLEAR ABOUT WHAT IS, AND IS NOT ALLOWED AS FAR AS GRAVESITE DECORATIONS, AND RULES. THEY ARE INCREDIBLY TRANSPARENT ABOUT HOW THE EVENTS WILL TAKE PLACE. If you abide by the rules, you will see zero problems. Special thanks to Becca, Destiny, and Christian for showing our family empathy, patience, and professionalism during this incredibly difficult time. God Bless this entire staff and operation”
