You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I have to say this place was amazing! It was perfect! Clean. The staff kept us organized, we were informed. We had questions they were very patient. Waiting area for family and facility was perfect! In time of pain Palm Valley Funeral Home was exceptional. Jonathan came for my mother and handled her in such a professional manner! Jeremy made sure the details were set! I’m very particular. Five star for me. My pamphlets were so beautiful and made. Thank you! Location near last minute places for things that come up on this day was very helpful. All support staff was helpful!”

“This place was recommended to us by family friend's who claimed to have good experiences, but unfortunately we do not share this sentiment. Price wise, they are reasonable and better than other options. However our experience with their services and employees was extremely lacking. I guess we got what we paid for. Frankly with how frustrating this situation has been, I do not remember the employees names. We got my father cremated recently, so we expected some delays due to the upcoming holidays. They gave us rough estimates each time we asked for an update, and it took us an additional 5 days from the estimated pick-up date for us to receive his ashes and death certificate. When we did receive them, there was a misspelled name on the death certificate. We also requested photos of his many tattoos, and did not receive them until after we received his ashes. The initial employee who said he would send them did not send them properly, first saying they would be sent by email, then asking for our personal phone number to send them over text, which took an additional 4 days to receive. When we finally got these photos, we discovered we received less than half. When we tried to reach out to receive the rest, we were ignored before we were finally able to get in contact with a female employee, who then told us "not to be morbid, but I could not take any more photos and I figured that would be enough." This was completely unacceptable. We were clear from the beginning that we wanted photos of every tattoo on his body, we estimated that he had over 20 tattoos, so to receive only 7, one of which we cannot even actually make out, is incredibly disheartening and heart wrenching. We understand due to the way he passed some tattoos may have had visible injures, however you took away our choice. We were aware and prepared for "morbid" photos because we asked for them specifically. It was incredibly unprofessional of you to make the choice to not take the photos. When we tried to communicate this frustration, the female employee told us she got photos of "what was on his arms," however he had a large tattoo of my name on his forearm which would have been impossible to miss when he was laid down that was not added in the 7 photos we received. There was an injury to this tattoo, however I saw it before he passed and it was in no way "morbid." The photos were for me, and you robbed me of a chance to memorialize my father. Based on the phone call we were finally able to have with the female employee, it seems like this was a regrettable situation. I hope in the future you will be upfront with people asking about tattoos, because I would hate for another family to go through what we did. Your offer to create a memorial piece of jewelry for me was nice, however it does not and can not undo the fact that I will never be able to see these tattoos again.”

“We cannot thank Palm Valley Funeral Home enough for their outstanding service during one of the most difficult times in our lives. After my dad’s passing, we were faced with the heartbreaking challenge of locating his body. Jeremy, Camille and Melissa went above and beyond to assist us. Their compassion, professionalism, and dedication were unparalleled. They not only helped us locate my dad but also expedited all necessary arrangements so we could fulfill his final wish of being buried in Mexico. They handled every detail with care and efficiency, easing our burden and allowing us to focus on honoring his memory. Their kindness and support will never be forgotten. I highly recommend Palm Valley Funeral Home to anyone in need of such services—they truly care about the families they serve. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Maria”
