You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“The workers here do not care about your loved ones that have passed nor do they care about your pain and grief. The Hispanic lady that sits in the office is the most unprofessional, rude and insensitive person I have ever met. She is not right for that job. She is RUDE to everyone. Dismisses issues and even raises her voice at grieving families. She should clean toilets instead of dealing with such sensitive matters. I am contacting every city official and will go as high as I can and will contact everyone until matters change. And Im getting other families involved to do the same. The grounds keepers mow over gravestone, some causing damage to VERY expensive pieces. Then they throw out decorations after they tell people that they are permitted. There is NO respect for the dearly departed nor the pain endured by loved ones. Do yourself a favor, report them and take your loved ones home or to Queen of Heaven Cemetery on Baseline. It's beautiful and the office staff is friendly, understanding and kind. Shame on you Mesa. Get appropriately trained staff. Remember, you WILL lose someone and hopefully they disrespect them like you do to all your residents.”

“Today was absolutely heartbreaking. My loved one’s gravesite was completely disrespected. Everything was removed, every single item. My flowers were not withered they were artificial flowers that I had just placed there in December. Nothing on his gravesite was old, damaged, or neglected. Yet they trashed everything and left nothing behind. Not even something to show that someone rests there. I looked around to see other gravesites were disrespected as well, where I had seen flowers before now nothing is there not even a sign that a life was loved, honored, and remembered. It was devastating to walk through and see gravesites that families clearly decorated with love and care only to find them left completely bare. As if no one was ever there. As if they were forgotten. No family should have to experience that kind of pain. We worked hard to pay for this gravesite. We chose it to honor our beloved one, to show our love, and to keep their memory alive. But today made it painfully clear that this place does not honor the people laid to rest here, nor the families who love them. I truly believe we chose the wrong place. For anyone considering this cemetery, please take the time to really look into where you place your loved ones. Choose somewhere that will respect, protect, and honor them the way they deserve. Somewhere that understands these are not decorations they are expressions of love, grief, and remembrance. Because today showed me that this place does not do that. Side note: None of the items were positioned in a way that would cause someone to trip or fall. They were placed directly at the base of the upright headstone and were not obstructing any walkways or commonly traveled areas. Additionally, there is no grass to mow it’s all dry. So the items were not in the way of mowing or grounds maintenance. I have taken care to ensure that everything placed at the gravesite is respectful, orderly, and does not interfere with safety or upkeep. I respectfully ask that this be taken into consideration.”

“From The Office in the cemetery, go south on 9th Street and park at the first trash receptacle and walk to the east.”
