You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Very cold, uncaring and rude staff. Flags are all faded and frayed. Trash and very dead sprays not picked up. Areas weeded but weeds are just laying in a pile not removed. Big flag at the entrance is riped and still being flown. Was told its not their flag but they have a contract with the company. And that it's none of my business who the company is only there's. So you can't contact the company about the condition of the flag.Very disappointed in the whole place. Visiting your loved ones is very hard when you see the condition of this place.”

“I liked the facility; it seems to be very pastoral and a peaceful place to rest for loved ones. I saw a few minor items that I would like to bring to the attention of facility management. There are several older crypts in both the Peace and Wedding Ring mausoleums where the weathered caulking is starting to peel away from the edges of the niche covers. Also, there is a hole in the privacy fence adjacent to the Garden of the Prophets section with sharp broken edges where some kids were running back and forth from the neighboring basketball court (one caught his foot and fell) on the Sunday I visited. Looking for a coworker's grave I was happy to be able to visit, enjoy the well kept and attractive grounds and search in peace without harassment (unlike a certain other memorial park on Virginia Beach Blvd where the golf cart "wHO ArE YOu VIsItINg?" paranoia patrol is king). The trash cans are spaced out and it is obvious that people are using them instead of tossing their litter on the ground! It made me happy to see a pride of place in the facility by both staff and visitors; with it being evident that some of the older markers had at one time been covered but have recently been cleaned of surface dirt. Very caring and professional.”

“Cemetery is beautiful!! However the staff is a nightmare especially the manager; Kimberly Keon!! So, if you loss a love one and your hurting and grieving, this is not the place you would want to rest your love one!! Don’t let the beauty fool you!! Very sad☹️”
