“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“I recently moved to the area and visited this church for Spanish Mass while searching for a parish to call home. The Mass was beautiful, reverent, and welcoming. I truly loved the experience and left feeling spiritually uplifted. However, I was disappointed by my experience when I contacted the church to ask about baptizing my daughters. Instead of being met with encouragement, the main focus became whether I would be attending regularly and officially registering as a parishioner. I was told that if I did not become a parish member, my daughters could not be baptized. I also felt pushed to go to a different church closer to my home, even though I expressed sincere interest in attending this parish. As someone raised in a Hispanic Catholic household, I grew up believing the Church is meant to embrace families with open arms, especially those seeking baptism, which is such an important step in faith. I understand guidelines may exist, but the way the conversation was handled felt discouraging and unwelcoming at a time when I was actively seeking to reconnect and bring my children closer to God. I still appreciate the beauty of the Mass and the worship experience, but I hope the church reflects on how it communicates with families who are trying to return to the faith or begin new roots in the parish.”

“I fist started going to mass At St Matthew's when I meet my girlfriend who lives in the area. I felt so welcomed and Father Don is wonderful and the events they have are great. When I leave mass I have a wonderful feeling inside. My girlfriend and I have broken up but I still attend mass and I drive an hour to go to mass. I live in Honesdale pa and it's worth the trip. The parish makes me feel like family. Thanks And God Blees .”

“Beautiful church, somewhat friendly people. I say hi to everyone, most responded back. The deacon was very friendly & welcoming. Shared some of the church's history, stories, experience. Very lovely. I would return & I'm not even Catholic.”
