You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Very interesting beautiful place! Checked out the well known celebrity graves, but also many other interesting headstones. Beautiful pond with flowers, turtles, peacocks & ducks. Peaceful too”

“A truly unique and beautiful cemetery with gravestones and sculptures that are bound to make you say, ‘wow!’. If you go to the ‘Garden of Legends’ this is where you’ll mainly see the celebrity graves, whereas a lot of the cemetery is random people buried there. It’s well kept, stunning and also very heavy so be prepared if you’re going to visit. They do also have a gift shop, flower shop too however the prices are a little high and for a map it’s $6. For me, I believe the map should be free. They have a gift shop that sells shirts, which I’m conflicted how I feel about that due to it is at the end of the day a resting place. If you’re in Hollywood, I would recommend a visit however.”

“Legendary and active cemetery! Visited with my mother and we were both impressed by unique gravesites, beautiful grounds and famous names. Wonderful to see so many families visiting and flowers across even old graves. It is very walkable but so many sections it was impossible to see it all. There was a large funeral taking place so I may have missed an office, however… I wish there had been a visitors map or audio guide to follow. I tried to use online sources but also found so much on my own that I know I was missing things. My main suggestion is to research ahead of time and arrive with a plan. Also, there is no shade and no vending (that I saw) so be prepared for weather and have water. We had lunch at the nearby Caribbean restaurant and spent about 2-hours at the cemetery making for a perfect afternoon in Hollywood.”
