You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“Corporate owned with profit over people, every single time. The fees and extra charges for perpetual care that never happens nor is enforceable is their goal. Imagine buying a house you can never sell, with constantly changing property managers but always the same crappy landlord. When your brass vase gets stolen or damaged the won't fix it. No grass on your loved one's grave because they never planted any in the back near gazebo? Dirt grave. If you are buried up front bc of a spot you bought decades ago, the traffic from the highway is terrible and loud and ruins whatever privacy you wanted. No new trees ever planted, just sun-baked, noisy misery of a dirt field with weeds. You have to conform to their standards and if you want to add cremains be prepared to pay the "opening and closing fee". They even charge the guy who places headstones a fee to go on their property. No matter what they get their cut.”

“I have been checking on a family member's grave for over a year. There are flowers (artificial) on every grave. The policy regarding what and how long items were left is clear. Flowers will be replaced as needed. Items left cannot interfere with the mowers. My family member has been buried here for 55 years and we have had no problems with the staff or crews. We recently had to replace the vase attached to the marker. My only concern was that the road is nearby and it was apparent that heavy equipment had been driven over the area of the graves.”

“DO NOT BURY YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!! THEY ARE HORRIBLE! They don’t maintain properly, they pick and choose which grave to “pick on” and if they are picking on your loved one then they throw EVERYTHING AWAY CONSTANTLY!! Something will be approved then there’s a change in management and all of a sudden it’s not ok anymore and it’s constant!! Now after almost 4 years of this they have suddenly decided that the MILITARY headstone for my mother is no longer in compliance. Mind you there’s still no grass out there and they haven’t even leveled the dirt. Yes, it’s Texas and yes I know ants are everywhere but tell me why they don’t even bother to put poison out instead my mothers best friend keeps some in her truck to put out? I thought that was part of their responsibility when the internment rights were purchased, that’s what their rules and regulations state! I could go on and on, but it’s not worth it. If you plan on memorializing your loved one for future visits save yourself the headache and find a decent place, this one isn’t it.”
