You're not expected to know this. These questions help you compare and avoid surprises.
“Can I see your General Price List?”
Federal law (FTC Funeral Rule) requires them to give you itemized pricing. You have every right to ask.
“Do you accept insurance assignment?”
This means they bill the insurance company directly. You don't pay thousands upfront and wait to be reimbursed.
“What's included vs. what's extra?”
Packages may not include everything. Ask about the casket, embalming, transportation, facility fees, and death certificate copies.
“Do you offer payment plans?”
Many funeral homes allow you to spread the cost over time. Ask about down payments, terms, and financing options.
Know Your Rights
The FTC Funeral Rule protects you. Every funeral home must provide an itemized General Price List if you ask — in person or over the phone. You are never required to buy a package and can choose services individually. You also have the right to use a casket purchased elsewhere.

“We used Daniel Funeral Home and Eric Daniel for the recent cremation, wake and funeral for our Dad. Dad's death was unexpected and Eric guided us every step of the way. Although there are so many decisions he had an easy way about him that made the process bearable. He was transparent in the costs. He made phone calls on our behalf and when we wanted thing a little different than "normal", Eric advocated for us. We received many compliments that Dad's wake and funeral were very personal and really encompassed his spirit. Daniel Funeral Home helped us do that. I would recommend them to anyone.”

“It has taken me 3 years to write this review, every time I drive past the building it brings up such terrible memories from the day we buried my mom. When we received her jewelry after closing the casket, it was earrings that didn’t match with only one belonging to her. The flowers came frozen on the casket and after paying hundreds of dollars, were told we could just throw the frozen ones away. Eric Daniel at one point came and asked family to “move the people along” as they wanted to get on with the services. We had told them during the planning stages that our family had been in the area for years and they should expect a large showing. I have told everyone I know to avoid this funeral home. They lack the professionalism and compassion needed when families are dealing with a heartbreaking situation. And yes, I did talk to them about all these issues and they said there was nothing they could do. Eric actually told me he didn’t call me because I was so upset and didn’t know what to say. What a sad excuse from the director of a funeral home. There are so many options in the St.Cloud and surrounding areas, please consider before doing business with Daniel’s!”

“Michael was such a kind and compassionate funeral director. He made a very difficult situation much easier with his demeanor. It was just what we needed. I would not hesitate to highly recommend Daniel Funeral Home to care for your loved one after they have passed.”
